Manipur Matka is actually just one section of the multi-player, dice based, horse race gambling game, and one section of luck. The players who play the game in Manipur are called "manipur matka" in the northern state of Jammu & Kashmir. The word "manipur" comes from Manipur, which is the word given to the city situated by the river Simitical. It is also the administrative capital of the State of Manipur.

Manipur is well connected with most major cities of India via road and rail network. Dense forests and steep slopes make it an ideal place for hiking expeditions, mountain biking and other adventure sports. The best seasons in Manipur are the summers, from September to October, and the winters, from February to March. The weather in Manipur is usually hot and humid, with average temperatures ranging between 30 and 35 degrees centigrade. The rainy season in Manipur is usually from June to September. The Manipur matkha or Madhur Satta Matka is the main event of Manipur Matka, a dice game that is organized and conducted during the auspicious occasion of major satta (good Friday) at the end of August or early September in the month of August or early October.

Manipur is also famous for its cattle and goat farms. The most popular events in Manipur during these seasons are the major satta king's day, which are on the last Sunday of August; the Manipur choli festival, which is on mid-September; and the Manipur ghotra, which take place around the middle of November. A notable fact about Manipur is that its festivals are not linked to any particular festival or festivities; instead, they are considered celebrations of rich traditions and cultures of the land. For instance, during the Manipur choli festival, women in Manipur wear a sari, and they wear a set of embroidered clothes (data) which represents their past, while in the madur satta, children and teenagers wear clothes which are colorful and embroidered.

Traveling to Manipur would not be complete without paying a visit to the renowned gripe water plant in the city. The plant is considered as a national icon in Manipur; hence, every villager and tourist who wish to make a trip to Manipur must take a trip to this holy water body. The tradition of drinking madur state, or sweet water made from milk and gram flour has been observed in Manipur since long, a fact which was revealed by Milind Ingle during one of his trips to the region, when he was questioned about why the locals drink madur Matka (sweet water). According to him, the main reason for the locals' enjoyment of this drink is its health benefits.

The tradition of drinking tea during the festive season, known as 'Chamcha' in Manipur, is also traced back to the 16th century, a time when the people there were much less dependent on European goods and services. As the results chart clearly shows, during that period, the trading community was established as a result of traders and their families traveling to and from the capital. To make ends meet, they would sell rice grains, beans and fish, which they could purchase at higher prices, on their travels. This eventually led to an influx of foreign goods and services, which gradually led to a development of local production and commerce.

The origin of Madur Matka could be traced in the Indus Valley Civilization. However, it's not clear whether it was invented in that region or by the British after their demise. Whatever the case may be, the tradition continues till date, with many residents of Manipur enjoying the taste of this beverage on various occasions. The process of making the drink involves blending in dry fruits, sugar, milk and ghee, besides other ingredients like nuts, raisins, dates, pistachios and milk powder. The Madur Matka results chart clearly indicates that the beverage enjoys maximum support among the residents of Manipur and other districts in India, especially in the states of Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar-Pradesh.
